Our community investment strategy focuses on how Zachry can contribute time, skills and resources to upgrade the social infrastructure of the communities in which we operate. Our technical and practical skills as an engineer and constructor mean that this investment often results in new or renewed physical structures, but our purpose equally supports enduring improvements for our local communities and the people who live there. This is accomplished through the following objectives:
- Create meaningful opportunities for our employees to impact the communities they live and work in by investing time, skills and resources.
- Support efforts to teach communities the critical and fundamental requirements for sustainable successful growth through leadership roles and service.
- Deliver a durable and purposeful impact on our communities by utilizing leveraged community investment opportunities that will continue to “give back.”
A “signature” program of our community investment strategy is the work done by our Cane Island site for the Central Florida Community Breadbasket. Zachry organized an extreme makeover of its food distribution facility and community center in 2010, joining forces with more than a dozen businesses, including our customer, on a new facility that now serves 1,200 families every day. The project delivered a durable enhancement to the social infrastructure of the local community that will continue to benefit the local community long after Zachry has left that site.
