Our philanthropy strategy focuses our charitable giving by understanding the needs of the community and directing the financial resources in a manner that provides the greatest and most sustainable impact. This is accomplished through the following objectives:
- Partner with locally based organizations to encourage individual employee contribution and increase impact to local communities by leveraging a corporate match.
- Educate employees on vital community needs and provide focused opportunities to contribute dollars.
- Spontaneous outpouring and response to fellow employees and community needs.
A “signature” program of this dimension of our citizenship strategy is our partnership with United Way, which encompassed 103 events at 81 locations in 2010 and resulted in a participation rate of 73 percent. After corporate matching, this raised close to $4.1 million for local charities.
