Electrical Distribution System Modeling

Zachry Nuclear offers a full range of Electrical Distribution System (EDS) analysis capabilities. We use industry standard ETAP® software from Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI) as well as other commercial software products including SKM® Power*Tools for Windows and EDSA® to perform EDS analysis.

Our experience includes full EDS model development as well as support for EDS software platform conversion efforts. Participation in the ETAP Nuclear Utility User Group keeps Zachry Nuclear abreast of associated industry issues and experiences, the latest ETAP software updates/features and also provides a forum for direct feedback to OTI. Typical EDS analysis/calculations/studies performed by Zachry Nuclear include short circuit, load flow, voltage drop, motor starting and protective device coordination.

Zachry Nuclear also offers Arc Flash Hazard Evaluation capabilities. We perform evaluations to determine incident energy and arc flash boundaries in accordance with the NFPA’s Standard 70E, “Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces,” – 2000 Edition and IEEE Standard 1584-2002, “Guide for Performing Arc Flash Hazard Calculations,” and provides clear and concise recommendations to our clients to facilitate the resolution of any issue identified as part of the evaluation.
